Formed in Melbourne, Australia in 2008 as a side project to the band members' various bands, ANCHORS served as an outlet for the guys to get back to their roots and play the kind of music they grew up on. The band quickly developed a furiously technical sound that combines aggressive vocals with unique and catchy melodies. After the initial seeds were sewn, ANCHORS became a main priority for all the members.
Combining manic guitar work and vocals that are equal parts harsh and nostalgic, ANCHORS deliver a ballsy, steadfast sound reminiscent of A Wilhelm Scream, Strung Out and Propagandhi. As a result, the band creates an addictive brand of technical punk with a hardcore feel that is a welcome relief for punk and hardcore fans alike.
In November 2010, ANCHORS released their hard-hitting debut album 'Bad Juju', recorded with Joel Taylor (The Abandonment, The Broderick, In Trenches) at Three Phase Studios in Melbourne and mastered by Alan Douches (Brand New, Lifetime, Every Time I Die). Following the success of their 2009 Self Titled EP and 2010's "Songs For Lily" EP, "Bad Juju" made Triple J's Short Fast Loud Top 40 list of 2010, and has set the band up for another relentless year of gigging, both home and abroad. |
